How many porta potties do I need?
You need one standard porta potty for every 50 guests at an event of up to 4 hours. Events of 4–8 hours need one unit per 40 guests. Add 1 unit for every 5 when alcohol is served. A jobsite needs one toilet per 20 workers under Cal/OSHA.
How do you adjust the count for alcohol and long events?
Adjust the count by whole units, not percentages. If the table says 5 units and the event serves alcohol, add 1 unit for 6. If the event runs past 8 hours, add a mid-event service visit. If the guest list is mostly women, add 1 unit per 100 guests.

Worked example: 150 guests, 5 hours, open bar. 150 ÷ 40 = 3.75, round up to 4. Alcohol: 4 ÷ 5 rounds up to 1 more. Total: 5 units, plus 1 hand washing station.
How many porta potties does a jobsite need?
A California jobsite needs one toilet for every 20 workers of each sex, or fraction of 20, under Cal/OSHA section 1526. A crew of 1–4 can share one single-user, all-gender unit. That is the legal minimum. We suggest a hand washing station for crews over 5.

How many porta potties do I need for 200 guests?
A 4-hour event for 200 guests needs 4 standard porta potties. With alcohol, add 1 more for 5. A 6-hour event needs 5 units before alcohol. Public events also need at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit.
How many porta potties do I need for 10 workers?
A crew of 10 workers needs 1 porta potty under Cal/OSHA section 1526. In Indio summer heat, add a second weekly service so the unit stays usable through the week.
Do women need more porta potties than men?
Women use restrooms longer on average, so events with mostly female guests run better with 1 extra unit per 100 guests. Weddings and showers often fall in this group. Urinals in standard units help speed lines for men.
Should I add a unit for kids?
Kids' parties need about the same count as adult parties, but kids need help and take longer. Add a wheelchair-accessible unit, which gives a parent room to help a child inside.
