Booking and delivery

How far ahead should I book a porta potty?

Book a standard porta potty 2–3 business days ahead for the widest choice and no rush charge. Book 3–4 weeks ahead for April festival weekends, and 4–8 weeks ahead for a restroom trailer in wedding season. Same-day delivery is still possible on most days when you call before noon.

What do you need from me to give a quote?

We need the delivery ZIP or address, the delivery and pickup dates, the unit type, and the guest or crew count. A name and phone number let us text the quote. You do not need to book on the first call.

Can I get a quote without giving my name?

A ZIP code and your dates are enough for a price over the phone. We ask for a name and number only when you want the quote texted or want to hold a date.

Can you deliver tomorrow morning?

Next-day delivery is available most days across the Coachella Valley. We can request a morning window and route you early. The driver calls about 30 minutes before arrival.

Can you guarantee an exact delivery time?

We confirm the delivery day and a morning or afternoon window. Exact times depend on traffic and the route, so we do not promise a set minute. If a crew needs the unit by a set hour, tell us and we will put you first on the route.

Do I need to be home for the delivery?

You do not need to be home. Leave placement notes, such as "left side of the driveway by the gate," or mark the spot with tape or a cone. Add a second contact number in case the driver has a question.

Can the driver text me instead of calling?

Ask for a text and we add it to the work order. Many customers prefer a text because they do not answer unknown numbers.

Can you deliver to a site with no street address?

Send a dropped map pin, cross streets, or a lot or parcel number. Rural parcels, new tracts and field sites are common for us. A stake or cone at the spot helps the driver.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Our trucks run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no Sunday delivery. A Sunday event gets its unit on Saturday and pickup on Monday, at no extra charge.

Can I book now and set the date later?

You can hold a tentative date and move it at no charge with 24 hours' notice before delivery. This works well for permit-dependent builds and events waiting on a venue.

Prices, fees and payment

How much does a porta potty cost for one day?

A standard porta potty for a 1–5 day event usually costs about $175–$275 in the Coachella Valley, with delivery and pickup. There is no hourly price, because delivery and pickup are the same work for a 4-hour party or a 3-day event.

How much does a porta potty cost per month?

A standard porta potty usually costs about $165–$235 per 28-day cycle with weekly service. The first bill adds a one-time delivery charge. Units with sinks, accessible units and extra service visits cost more.

Why is there no daily rate?

Most of the cost of a rental is the truck trip to deliver, the trip to pick up, and the final pump-out. Those costs do not shrink for a shorter rental. Event pricing covers 1–5 days for that reason.

Is delivery charged for each unit?

Delivery is charged once per truck trip. Several toilets and a hand washing station on one truck share one delivery charge.

Are there hidden fees?

Every charge is a line item on your quote: unit, delivery, pickup, any extra service, any same-day charge, and tax. The total on the quote is what you pay for those dates.

Do you charge extra for same-day delivery?

A same-day order may include a rush charge when a driver has to leave a set route. The charge is shown on the quote before you pay. Indio-area orders often have none when a truck is nearby.

Do you offer discounts for churches or nonprofits?

Churches, schools and nonprofits booking 3 or more units, or booking 2 weeks ahead, often get a lower rate. Ask when you call. Larger orders also save because units share a truck.

What payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and debit cards. Payment is taken at booking, by phone or through a secure invoice link. Approved contractors can apply for monthly invoicing.

Do I have to pay to hold my date?

Event rentals are paid at booking to hold the date and the unit. If plans change, you can move the date or cancel under the rental terms.

Can a sponsor or another person pay?

Another person or business can pay. We send the quote to whoever is paying, and they complete the invoice link. The service address can be different from the billing address.

How long is my quote good for?

Your quote is held for 7 days. Peak dates, such as festival weekends, depend on remaining units, so booking early keeps the quoted price.

Units and equipment

What is inside a standard porta potty?

A standard porta potty has a toilet seat, a urinal, two rolls of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, a mirror and a coat hook. A translucent roof lets in light. The tank holds deodorizer that controls odor between services.

Do your porta potties have a sink?

Standard units have hand sanitizer but no sink. Flushing units have a foot-pump sink inside. Separate hand washing stations have two sinks with soap and towels.

Do you have flushing porta potties?

We rent flushing units that rinse the bowl with clean water from a foot pump. Guests do not see the tank. The unit needs no hose or power.

What is the difference between handicap and ADA units?

Both words usually mean the larger, roll-in unit with a 32-inch door, handrails and room to turn a wheelchair. We call ours wheelchair-accessible. Ask your venue whether its permit needs a specific ADA setup.

Does the wheelchair-accessible unit come with a ramp?

The accessible unit has a ground-level floor, so no ramp is needed. Place it on firm, level ground, like a driveway or patio, so a wheelchair rolls straight in.

Do you rent restroom trailers?

We rent 2-stall and 3–4 stall restroom trailers with flushing toilets, sinks, lights and AC. Each trailer needs level ground, a garden-hose connection and a 110-volt outlet.

Are event units nicer than construction units?

Event units are washed, deodorized and restocked at the yard before every event. Units that look worn stay on jobsites. Tell us it is an event and we send an event-grade unit.

Can I choose a color?

Units come in blue, gray, tan and pink, depending on stock. Gray and tan blend in at homes and weddings. Ask for a color when you book.

Do you sell porta potties?

Zid Portable Services rents units only. Renting includes delivery, weekly service, waste disposal and pickup, which buying a unit does not cover.

Is it cheaper to rent or buy a porta potty?

Renting is cheaper for most people, because a rental includes delivery, weekly pumping, cleaning and supplies. A buyer also pays for pumping by a licensed hauler and for safe waste disposal. Buying only makes sense for owners who already run a pump truck.

Cleaning and service

How often are porta potties cleaned?

Every rental includes one service visit per week. Busy jobsites and summer crews often add a second weekly visit. Events longer than 2 days can add a mid-event clean.

What happens during a service visit?

The driver vacuums the tank, adds fresh water and blue deodorizer, scrubs the seat, urinal, floor and walls, and restocks toilet paper and sanitizer. Units with sinks get fresh water, soap and towels.

Do I have to schedule each cleaning?

Weekly service is automatic on a set weekday. You only call if you want to change the day or add an extra visit.

Can I skip cleaning if the unit is barely used?

Weekly service stays on the schedule because waste and odor build up even with light use, especially in desert heat. It is included in the price, so skipping it does not lower the bill.

How long can a porta potty go without being pumped?

A standard 60-gallon tank lasts about 200 uses before it needs pumping. For a crew of 10 working 40 hours, that is about one week, which is why weekly service is standard. Heavy use, long events or summer heat above 105°F call for a second visit.

Why do porta potties smell more in the summer?

Heat speeds up the breakdown of waste, so odor builds faster above 100°F. Our units use a deodorizer made for desert heat and a vent stack that pulls air out through the roof. Shade and a second weekly service in July and August keep odor low.

What is the blue liquid in a porta potty?

The blue liquid is a deodorizer that masks odor and slows the growth of bacteria in the tank. The color also hides what is in the tank. We add a fresh charge of water and deodorizer at every service visit.

Can you pump out a porta potty I own?

We can quote a pump-out for customer-owned units when a truck is in your area. Call with the number of units, their size and the address.

Do you pump RV tanks?

We can quote RV and holding-tank pump-outs at homes and job sites in the Coachella Valley. Tell us the tank size and how the truck reaches it.

Placement and access

Where should I put the porta potty?

Put it on level, firm ground within about 25 feet of where the service truck can park. Keep it away from windows, the A/C unit and food tables. In summer, choose afternoon shade.

Can it go on grass?

A porta potty can sit on grass. It may leave a pale square after a few weeks. Sprinkler heads should be marked so the base does not crush them.

How far from a house can a porta potty be?

A porta potty can sit anywhere on your lot, but the service truck needs to park within about 25 feet of it. Place it 10–15 feet from doors and windows for privacy and smell. Keep it at least 5 feet from walls so the driver can reach the door.

Does a porta potty need level ground?

A porta potty needs flat, firm ground so it does not tip and the door closes fully. A slope of a few degrees is fine. On steep or soft ground, the driver can set it on a pad or move it to the nearest level spot.

How big is a standard porta potty?

A standard porta potty is about 43.5 inches wide, 47 inches deep and 91 inches tall. It needs a 48-inch path to move through a gate on a dolly. A wheelchair-accessible unit is larger, about 62 by 62 inches.

Will it fit through my side gate?

A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide, so the driver needs at least a 48-inch opening. Accessible units are 62 inches wide and usually go on the driveway.

Can my crew move the unit?

Move only an empty unit, on level ground, a short distance. The service truck must still reach it. If the driver cannot reach the unit on service day, the visit may be skipped.

Can I lock the porta potty?

You can add a padlock to keep the public out. Unlock it, or leave the code on the work order, before each service day and before pickup.

What if the unit is vandalized?

The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal use, so lock units left in public places overnight. Call us right away if a unit is tipped or damaged, and we will replace it.

What do you need for a gated community?

Give us the gate code or add our company to the guest list for the delivery and service days. Tell us any HOA rule about where a unit may sit or how it must be screened.

Rental length, pickup and changes

How long can I keep a porta potty?

Keep it as long as you need. Long-term units renew every 28 days at the same price, with weekly service, and there is no contract term.

When do you pick up after an event?

Event units are picked up the next business day. A Saturday or Sunday event is picked up Monday. Make sure the unit is unlocked and the path is clear.

Is pickup automatic?

Event pickups are scheduled when you book. Long-term units stay until you call or text for pickup, so billing stops on the day you ask.

Can I add more units later?

Call as soon as your guest count or crew grows. Added units can usually go out on the next truck to your area.

How do I cancel?

Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled delivery for a full refund, or move the date at no charge. Refunds go back to the card within 5–7 business days.

Can I extend a rental?

Long-term rentals extend automatically every 28 days. To extend an event rental past 5 days, call and we switch it to a 28-day rental.

Events and parties

Do I need a porta potty if I have a bathroom?

One home bathroom works for about 15–20 guests. Above that, lines form and septic systems can back up. A rented unit also keeps guests out of the house.

Should I rent a hand washing station for a party?

Rent a hand washing station when food is served or kids are coming. One two-sink station covers most backyard parties.

How many porta potties for a 4-hour party of 80?

A 4-hour party for 80 guests needs 2 standard units. Add a third if the party has a bar, and add a hand washing station for food.

Do I need an accessible unit for my event?

Public events need at least 5% of each cluster of portable toilets to be accessible, with a minimum of one, under the ADA Standards. Private parties choose one when an older guest or wheelchair user attends.

Can the unit be delivered the day before?

Event units usually arrive the day before, so they are in place before guests come. Weekend events get Friday or Saturday delivery and Monday pickup at no extra charge.

Construction and business

How many toilets does Cal/OSHA require on a jobsite?

Cal/OSHA section 1526 requires one toilet per 20 workers of each sex, or fraction of 20. Crews under 5 can share one single-user, all-gender toilet.

Can you send a certificate of insurance?

We email a certificate of insurance on request, usually the same business day. Send the holder's name and address with your order.

Do I need a permit for a porta potty in California?

Most porta potties on private property in California need no permit. A unit on a street, sidewalk or public right-of-way usually needs an encroachment permit from the city. Large public events may need a temporary event permit that lists restroom counts. Check with your city before placing a unit on public land.

Can you invoice my company monthly?

Contractors and businesses can apply for monthly invoicing. Approval takes a few business days, and the first order can go on a card in the meantime.

Can you switch from my current vendor without overlap?

Schedule our delivery for the last day of the current vendor's cycle. Our unit arrives before theirs leaves, so the crew is never without one.

Do you rent to businesses with no restroom?

We rent monthly units to shops, storage yards, offices under repair and new businesses waiting on plumbing. A unit with a sink suits customer-facing sites.
